Judith Quinlan was our featured writer in February 2025, and we are excited to share our recent interview with her below, as we return to the topic of empowering others through knowledge. A few months ago, OutGrowth focused on the topic of empowering others through knowledge, and you wrote a piece in our February issue of En Root to illustrate how this theme has impact you. Tell us how this topic has played a role in your personal or professional life.


This theme has been a central guiding force throughout both my personal and professional journey. It has shaped my approach to growth, motivating me to continually seek knowledge and understanding. As I evolve and navigate new challenges, my curiosity and desire for learning remain constant, driving me to explore new perspectives and embrace opportunities for development. This commitment to growth and transformation has not only enriched my professional experiences but also fostered a deeper sense of self-awareness and resilience.



At OutGrowth, we believe in designing the space and time to reimagine the path forward. How do you think that knowledge empowerment can impact our lives?


Knowledge and empowerment are key catalysts for unlocking new possibilities in life. When we equip ourselves with the tools of understanding, we gain the confidence and insight to approach challenges with resilience and creativity. By fostering a deep commitment to continuous learning, we position ourselves to transform obstacles into opportunities for growth. This process not only enhances our ability to navigate life's complexities but also enables us to create meaningful, positive outcomes. Ultimately, knowledge empowers us to shape our futures, improve our circumstances, and contribute more effectively to the communities we are part of.



What is one hard lesson you learned in this past year that contributed to your growth?


A key lesson I was reminded of this past year is that I am the one who determines the trajectory of my life. The choices I make, the mindset I cultivate, and the actions I take all play a significant role in shaping my personal and professional path. On a more granular level, this lesson has reinforced the importance of practicing gratitude and offering service—not only to others but also to myself. By embracing gratitude, I am able to maintain a positive perspective, even amidst challenges, and to recognize the value in every experience. Similarly, serving others, whether through acts of kindness or professional contributions, enriches both my life and the lives of those around me. This dual commitment to self-care and service has helped me maintain a sense of purpose and fulfillment, while also fostering growth and meaningful connections.



What is one competency or skill you hope to develop in 2025?


As a lifelong learner, I am deeply committed to continuously developing the qualities that define effective leadership. I believe that true leadership goes beyond personal achievement; it involves inspiring and empowering others to realize their potential and accomplish their goals. By fostering an environment of trust, collaboration, and support, I aim to encourage those around me to reach new heights. I recognize that leadership is a dynamic and evolving skill, and I strive to embrace opportunities for growth in this area—whether through expanding my knowledge, improving my communication, or refining my ability to inspire and motivate others. Ultimately, my goal is to not only lead by example but to empower others to take ownership of their success and contribute meaningfully to the collective vision.



What inspires you?


It is truly an honor to witness the growth and development of the individuals I have the privilege of mentoring. Being part of their journey, whether through guiding them in overcoming challenges, celebrating their achievements, or supporting them through moments of self-discovery, is both humbling and rewarding. I am deeply committed to creating an environment that fosters trust, encouragement, and constructive feedback, as I believe these elements are key to unlocking the full potential of those I mentor. Seeing them evolve, gain confidence, and ultimately succeed in their personal and professional pursuits reinforces the impact of mentorship and fuels my passion for continued growth as a leader and guide. Their progress is a testament to the power of collaboration, support, and shared learning, and it inspires me to be an even better mentor moving forward.
