This month's theme is all about impact through growth. Tell us about how you define growth, and how you stay committed to a growth mindset through your work.

Growth is a byproduct of honesty, and in order to be honest with yourself, you have to reflect upon your actions and decisions. Growth does not have to be painful, but it's not always easy.

At OutGrowth, we are committed to providing others with the tools for true growth. What do you think we as individuals can do to begin our growth journey today?

We can accept ourselves as we are right now and we can recognize that no one else is us.

Tell us about your most significant professional moment to date.

Founding Black Fox Productions with my brother Joseph in late 2020 is my most significant professional moment, and I felt prepared for this endeavor through the training I received working with clients in Saudi Arabia and Washington, DC, serving in the Peace Corps in Bulgaria and previous industry experience working at talent agencies and in film production.

How did this experience change the course of your life, your career or your outlook?

I left my job of seven years at a global communications firm in Washington, DC and moved to Los Angeles. I traded certainty for constant discovery. At first I was terrified, but now I can't believe I ever did anything else.

If you could go back in time and give one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be?

I would advise my younger self to manage my expectations for what any one thing--a job, a person or a place--can or should do for me.

What is your favorite quote or song lyric?

I like the George Bernard Shaw quote: “The only man I know who behaves sensibly is my tailor; he takes my measurements anew each time he sees me. The rest go on with their old measurements and expect me to fit them.”

At OutGrowth, we believe in preparing the next generation of leaders. Based on your experience to date, what are the top three career competencies that you believe are essential in 2022?

1.) Discretion in every interaction we have in person and online,

2.) Strong writing skills, e.g., an ability to express oneself thoroughly and succinctly,

3.) Being a team player/ willing to pitch in on any project.

What's next? What are your next steps toward growth in 2022?

Writing everyday--a letter, a journal entry, an article or a short story. Most other communication is a distraction for me but writing has a positive, holistic impact on the quality of my day-to-day work, conversations I engage in and the way I express myself.
